Dymola – Multi-Engineering Modeling and Simulation of physical systems

Dymola - Multi-Engineerng Modeling and Simulation of physical systemsDymola - Multi-Engineerng Modeling and
												Simulation of physical systems

Simulations have become well established as an interdisciplinary, integrated development approach to help manage the growing complexity of modern products and projects. A simulation can be described as the self-contained modeling of the physical and logical properties of a yet-to-be-developed product. Product simulation aims to validate and optimize the product model in line with the required specifications. This makes it possible to create better products over far shorter development times and with fewer real prototypes and testing.

Benefits

  • Improved image of reality thanks to incorporation of all of the simulation model's physical characteristics
  • Quick and simple model generation by using, re-using and modification of existing model libraries
  • Free access to a continually growing collection of Modelica Association models
  • More efficient use of resources and quicker model generation thanks to early symbolic simplification of model eqations
  • Better products thanks to the interdisciplinary simulation already in the specification phase

Modelica

The object-oriented modeling language Modelica provides an open standard for simple and yet precise descriptions of complex physical systems in all engineering disciplines through mathematical equations. Dymola is the highest-performing and most flexible modeling and simulation environment for Modelica on the market today. It provides engineers a homogenous tool for efficient validation and optimization of complex systems.

You will find further information about Modelica, the Modelica organization, events and libraries at www.modelica.org.

Modelica Standard Library

Modelica Standard Library is a free, continually growing library that can be used without any restrictions.

With various components it covers electrical, mechanical, rotational, translational, 3D-mechanical, thermodynamic, and control engineering tasks.

Commercial libraries and options

Dymola is based on Modelica and that gives unique access to libraries developed by leading experts around the world. All libraries are fully compatible with each other.

Further information and flyers about the commercial libraries.

A Dymola installation consists of a basic configuration and selected Add-On options that extend the Dymola functionality for special use cases.

Latest Release

The most important new features in Dymola 2013 are:

      • Model editing

        • Easier to compose and re-compose models by reusing existing components to create new models
        • Commend and documentation can be written in your native language, for example, Japanese
      • Portability and diagnostics

        • Choose between strict Modelica 3 compatibility checking or extended backward model compatibility
        • Improved error messages and more structured presentation makes model debuggin more effective
      • Environment and setup

        • Better post-processing setup and possibility to disable export options inside Dymola
        • Improved layout when plotting Boolean and enumeration signals
        • Simulink interface and FMI support on Linux

          Integration in CATIA V6 Systems

Dymola is available as Dynamic Behavior Modeling in CATIA V6 Systems as fully featured version of Dymola and Modelica. Both versions are based on the same software kernel and thus have access to all Modelica libraries. They only differ in the user interface.
In addition Dynamic Behavior Modeling offers associative access to geometric information of CATIA V6 such as lengths, centers of gravity etc. and uses CATIA representations for the animation of simulation models.
