IBM ECM System Monitor

Service quality for business automation applications

A proactive health monitoring to manage your IBM Business Automation applications on-premises and on any Cloud

IBM’s Business Automation (BA) solutions are mission-critical – often used 24/7 in customer facing business processes or as a supplier to Robotic Process Automation. A high service quality of these applications is crucial to protect your competitiveness and retain your customers.

„IBM Enterprise Content Management System Monitor“ helps managing your BA ecosystems by giving BA administrators, IT Operations and Service Desk staff full insight into the BA health 24/7. The proactive application health monitoring helps protecting the productivity of business users and maximizing your end customer experience, regardless where the BA systems run – on-premises, in private cloud, in hybrid cloud, as traditional installation or as container. BA administrators can focus on higher value work and do not need to waste their time with mundane routine checks. The integration with IBM Instana and IBM Watson AIOps enables you to leverage overarching Observability and automation capabilities.

Features

Proactive Health Monitoring

IBM ECM System Monitor manages the various Business Automation components and their underlying infrastructure as well as their overall interoperability to guarantee the availability of the business services to the end user. IBM ECM System Monitor does not only monitor the various components, but also their interaction – both for traditional systems and containers.
This includes synthetic user checks to get a better understanding of the end user experience, e.g. for full text search or document retrieval performance.

Single Point of Control

Administrators can tailor the Management Consoles of IBM ECM System Monitor to their specific needs. The dashboard provides an overview of monitored systems and managed areas that contains events in one single point of control.

Integration with ITSM

Event forwarding from IBM ECM System Monitor to IT Service Management tools enables IT Operations and Service Desk personnel to monitor the BA systems 24/7 using their standard management console. And ESM supports the “Discover” activity in AIOps, feeding BA-specific events pre-classified to IBM Watson AIOps. These BA-specific events along with other relevant events coming from infrastructure and network components then can be analyzed and processed in the Intelligence Layer of Watson AIOps. Events can also be sent to solutions like ServiceNow.

Knowledge Base

A Knowledge Base provides information about possible error cause and corrective actions for thousands of log file entries and monitoring alerts. This Knowledge Base can be extended, so administrators can create their own instructions how to handle events in their unique environment.

Automation Tasks

Automation Tasks help to simplify repetitive tasks, e.g. restarting of components or collecting troubleshooting information. Triggered by an event they can even be used to automatically respond to incidents.

Reporting

A Reporting engine creates reports for Service Level and Compliance Reporting. Trending provides insight into the evolution of the platform, for example for capacity planning. The data can also be provided to analytics tools like Splunk or Grafana.

The event console provides detailed information about the health of your BA platform.

Livecharts allow to interpret events in context, showing correlations and anomalies.

A heatmap provides a quick overview.
